Politics From The Pulpit
Election day is drawing closer and people everywhere are doing what they can to squeeze in a bit of last minute campaigning for their candidates. News, tv commercials, even from the pulpit, people are letting their choices be known.
In case you missed it, on September 28 while participating in the Alliance Defense Funds “Pulpit Freedom Sunday” 33 ministers across the country endorsed their candidates from behind the pulpit, putting their IRS tax exemption at risk.
For many, politics and religion seem to go hand in hand. Yet for others, the very idea is strictly taboo. We would like to hear your opinions. Should a minister endorse their political candidates from the pulpit? Why or why not?

I do not believe endorsing candidates belongs in the pulpit at all! I think encouraging people to vote is acceptable because that goes along with citizenship. Encouraging people to pray for our nation is certainly acceptable from the pulpit because that is scriptural.

I don’t think churches should be given tax exempt status at all, for any reason, it makes money laundering far too easy.
i am all for freedom of speech though

People need to wake up and realize there’s a reason for separation or church and politics. A pastor should never discuss politics at church and I have no respect for any that do.
